AKUREYRI, ICELAND, is the site for the 2007 Rural Clustrers Conference; hosted by the Akureyri’s Region Growth agreement. The conference theme is “Small and Remote Communities”.
THE THREE-DAY EVENT BEGINS JUNE 11TH with a cluster tour of three North Iceland clusters, Food cluster, Renewable energy cluster and Wale cluster. On the 12th and the 13th we will learn about cluster development from some of the words most renowned names like, Stu Rosenfeld, Lars Eklund, Ifor Williams, and more, as well as the opportunity to join one of our breakout sessions to learn from, work with and listen to renowned specialists in each field.
THERE ARE FIVE BREAKOUT SESSIONS ALL DEALING WITH ASPECTS OF CLUSTERS IN SMALL AND REMOTE COMMUNITIES

TRAVEL TO AKUREYRI, ICELAND, CAN BE DONE IN TWO WAYS:
- it is served by non-stop air service from Copenhagen Denmark by Iceland Express (www.icelandexpress.com)
- or you can fly into Keflavík/Reykjavík airport using Iceland Air (www.icelandair.com), take a fly-bus to the domestic airport in Reykjavík and fly with Air Iceland (www.airiceland.is) to Akureyri. (it’s not as complicated as it sounds)
